Porter Cable CFN250 Bammer 16 Gauge Cordless Finish Nailer Nail Gun

Porter-Cable's cordless 16-gauge Bammer finish nailer is designed for quick in-and-out jobs, when it's a hassle to haul out the compressor and unwind an air hose. The gun accommodates nail sizes from 3/4 to 2-1/2 inches and drives roughly 3,000 nails per fuel cell. There's an adjustable depth setting. The gun also has a straight aluminum magazine with a simple and convenient changing system (maximum load: 100 nails). The Bammer is powered by a gas fuel cell and features an oil-free combustion chamber and a piezoelectric ignition. The ignition system requires no battery (as, for instance, the Paslode alternative does), so you don't have to mess around with charging--but you do have to pump the gun between every firing. It's a bit of a tossup: it's nice not having to hassle with batteries, but pumping the gun between each shot isn't fantastically convenient, either. (We should point out, however, that the Bammer costs significantly less.) Because you have to compress the nosepiece to get the gun's ignition to engage, the Bammer can also be a bit tricky to fire in precarious positions--when holding a workpiece overhead, say, or when maneuvering in tight corners. The Bammer is also considerably larger than its standard pneumatic equivalent. That said, we feel the need to reassert how impossibly handy it can be to leave the compressor and hose behind in the truck.
