The RE15 is a favorite of producers, engineers and artists in many recording, broadcast studios and on stage. Being a true super cardioid mike, the RE15 offers maximum audio rejection at 150º off axis (typical cardioids are 180º). Unlike a typical cardioid mike, the unique E-V Variable-D design features a frequency response independent of the angular location of the sound source. That means virtually NO sound coloration on or off axis. A hum-bucking coil along with the machined steel outer casing helps to insure the rejection of hum under the most demanding of conditions.

Another handy design feature of the RE15 is the Bass Roll Off Switch.  Low end can be rolled off 6 db between 1000Hz and 100Hz. This may be used to compensate for room boominess in some situations and excessive rumble from 'live' stages in other instances.
