The DBX Model 224 is a vintage two-channel simultaneous encode/decode Type II tape noise reduction system for home and semi-pro audio use. It provides over 30 dB of broadband tape noise reduction along with a 10 dB improvement in recording headroom, allowing both recording and real-time off-tape monitoring of a stereo program at the same time. The unit can also decode DBX-encoded phonograph discs, delivering up to 40 dB of noise reduction compared to conventional records. It is fully compatible with all other DBX Type II units (120 and 140 series) and features a dynamic range of 110 dB, frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, and less than 0.5% total harmonic distortion. Rack-mountable in 1U format.
